Center's director served as jury member at first edition of Anadolu Agency's Istanbul Photo Awards
A Pulitzer-prize winning photojournalist at the heart of Anadolu Agency's recent photo awards has seen his Shanghai museum scoop top prize in a popular listing magazine's museum competition.
The Shanghai Centre of Photography -- whose director is Liu Heung Shing -- has been awarded “Shanghai’s best art museum” by Timeout magazine.
“Opened earlier this year, the Shanghai Centre of Photography is the latest addition to the burgeoning art district developing beside the Huangpu in southern Xuhui district,” the magazine wrote.
In its coverage, Timeout lauded the country's first ever public museum dedicated solely to the art of photography as "only being open a few months, but it’s already impressed”.
Accepting the award Sunday, Liu thanked all those who had contributed to the center's success.
In March, Liu served as a jury member at the first edition of Anadolu Agency's Istanbul Photo Awards, with the Shanghai centre showcasing winning photographs from the event in August.
The awards are Turkey's first and only news photography competition held at an international level.
