Istanbul Photo Awards 2019 submissions ongoing

So far over 2,000 applications from photographers hailing from more than 80 countries submitted to Istanbul Photo Awards 2019




The Istanbul Photo Awards 2019 is still open for submissions, the contest organizer Anadolu Agency, Turkey’s leading news agency, said on Friday. 

This year’s competition focuses on news and sports photos, the agency said in a statement. 

The contest is open to professional photographers. 

Mainly focusing on news and sports photos, the contest has four categories: Single News, Story News, Single Sports, and Story Sports.


Submissions still open

The international news photography contest, which since Nov. 1 has attracted over 2,000 submissions from photographers hailing from more than 80 countries, will accept applications through next Jan. 31, via the portal at http://istanbulphotoawards.com, the statement added. 

The Istanbul Photo Awards aims to support the profession of photojournalism. 

Photographers across the world are invited to submit pictures capturing global events from throughout the year.

Next April, an international jury will meet to select the winners in Turkey, and the awards will be announced in May. 

The winner of the Single News category will be honored as Photo of the Year with a prize of $8,000, while winners in other categories will be given $5,000 for first prize, $3,000 for second prize, and $1,500 for third.


2018 Photobook published 

The winning photos of 2018 were compiled in a photobook and displayed throughout the year at exhibitions in Turkey and abroad.

The Istanbul Photo Awards 2018 Photobook features pictures in the categories of news, sports, nature and the environment, and daily life. The book is also available via www.istanbulphotoawards.com.
