Anadolu Agency advanced to the shortlist of the Digital Communication Awards on Wednesday, the organizers announced.

The agency was nominated for its Istanbul Photo Awards held in March. The competition, which was Turkey's first international news photography contest, was shortlisted in the “online competition” category.

Other Turkish organizations to progress in the digital awards, hosted by the Quadriga University of Applied Science in Berlin, included Turkish Airlines, Turkcell, Anadolu Efes and Turkey Is Bank.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Sept. 25 in Berlin.

The winners will be chosen in 34 categories. Four other organizations have been shortlisted in the online competition section.

The awards honor outstanding achievements, professional campaigning and strategic thinking in online communications.

The Istanbul Photo Awards targeted professional photojournalists from all over the world, asking them to submit images online. Nearly 12,000 photographs from 104 countries were entered.
