AA Istanbul Photo Awards applications available

A total of $ 58,000 is to be awarded to the winners of the Istanbul PhotoAwards, the first edition of the international news and sports photography contest organized by the Anadolu Agency



Applications to participate in the Istanbul Photo Awards, the first edition of the international news and sports photography contest organized by The Anadolu Agency, have been made available on Saturday.

A combined amount $ 58,000 will be awarded to the winners in four categories and one special prize.

Applications will be accepted between November 1, 2014 and January 31 2015 via www.istanbulphotoawards.com.

Photographers are invited to submit their images to be assessed in four categories: news single and news story, for an individual news photo or a collection around a story, as well as sports single and sports story. The jury will also select one photographer for a special award.

The Award Ceremony will be held in April 2015, in Istanbul.

 - World-renowned professionals to be part of jury

The jury will be composed of world-renowned editors, publishers and photojournalists, including Time’s Alice Gabriner, Stern’s Haral Menk, Getty Images’ Georges Dekeerle, AFP’s Michel Scotto, the World Press Awards photoreporter Guillaume Herbaut, Yuri Kozirev and war reporter Patrick Chauvel, Pulitzer Awards’ Liu Heung Shing and Anadolu Agency Visual News Editor Ahmet Sel.

The Istanbul Photo Awards were first presented to international photoreporters during Visa Pour l'Image Perpignan photojournalism festival in France, which took place between September 1st and 7th this year.
